Only Allah swt knows when is the actual night of Lailatul Qadr. According to the indications of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw) it could be expected during the odd nights of the final ten days of Ramadhan, and also our beloved Prophet (saw) used to perform special ibadah and I’tikaf during the last ten days of Ramadhan. It is Allah’s hikmah that ALLAH swt did not reveal to us the exact night in which Lailatul Qadr happens.
The Muslims usually would expect Lailatul Qadr on the last 10 nights of Ramadhan. We do not know….. only Allah swt knows….. we only need to prepare ourselves from the early beginning of Ramadhan so that we do not miss this night of power and it’s unique blessings.
This is the night of decree which is eqivalent to 83++ years, 1000 months, 4,200+ weeks and 30,000 days……
Allah swt says :
Indeed, We sent the Qur’an down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.”
[Quran 97:1-5]
Again Allah swt says:
“Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind]. On that night is made distinct every precise matter – [Every] matter [proceeding] from Us. Indeed, We were to send [a messenger] As mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.”
[Quran 44:3-6].
On these blessed final 10 nights of sacred Ramadhan we need to increase the following righteous deeds.
• Charity and helping others in need
• I’tikaf in the Masjid
• Pray Tahajjud
• Recite the noble Quran
• Perform more voluntary solah
• Do more duas / supplications to Allah swt anytime of the days or the nights
A Special Dua that is recommended by our beloved Prophet (saw) for us to do during these blessed final ten days of Ramadhan
اَللَّهُمَّ اِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ ، تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun, tuhibbul-‘afwa, fa’fu ‘anni.
O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness; so forgive me.
Try doing it as much as we can all these righteous deeds again and again like this is our last Ramadhan or Lailatul Qadr!
The night of decree is like finding a diamond amongst the crystals…..if we can find the diamond, we will be one of the lucky ones indeed. So let us work hard to find the hidden treasure…..
To be granted night of lailatul qadr is like winning a lucky draw ticket and the prize is Jannah. Wouldn’t you want to win most prized gift that Allah can bestow upon us?
However in order to ‘win’ this ‘lucky draw’, we must first earn Allah’s redha and labour our way to gain the rewards for the night of power in sha Allah
Ya Allah, please do not let us take this powerful night for granted. Ya Allah do not let this sacred night slip through our fingers…. Please make us aware and strive for this blessed night!
Ya Allah swt grant us all Your forgiveness with Your infinite mercy.
Ya Allah forgive all our sins minor or major, knowingly or unknowingly that we have committed.
Ya Allah give us the protection from the fires of Jahannam; accept our ibadahs and all our righteous deeds during the special nights and days of this sacred month of Ramadhan. Ameen ya Rabbal Aalameen
